This year Patriots 15th Annual Youth Summit is a two day event May 4th & 5th 2012.  The purpose of the Summit is to get students excited about the possibility of college, study and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

County Executive Baker Participates in VisionWalk for Foundation Fighting Blindness

 

The following informationa was sent to us by Scott Peterson: Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III joined State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks, Del. Michael Summers and approximately 1,000 students on Thursday from Gwynn Park High School, Gwynn Park Middle School, Baden Elementary School, and Brandywine Elementary School to support a fellow student, Bjorn Brooks, who is legally blind from a rare genetic disease. A ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off the event at Gwynn Park High School, and students walked on behalf of Brooks to boost awareness and generate funds for the Foundation Fighting Blindness’ research efforts for sight-robbing retinal diseases. R&B recording artist Ginuwine, Big Tigger, and 95.5 WPGC-FM radio personalities Free and Herkules also participated in this event.

This year Patriots 15th Annual Youth Summit is a two day event May 4th & 5th 2012.  The Youth Summit on Technology is the Patriots signature event and is now attended by over 700 students and parents from the 5th grade through 12th grade.

University of Maryland Entrepreneurs Compete for $75,000 in Prizes

 

On Friday, University of Maryland undergraduates, graduates, faculty and recent alumni will go head to head in an entrepreneur competition with the chance to win $75,000 in prizes in the UMD $75K Business Plan Competition.

Nine teams are competing for a share in the $75K at Riggs Alumni Center on the UMD campus, and another 17 teams are competing for $2,500 in funding.
