New 'Cat Castle' For St. Mary's Animal Welfare League

CALLAWAY,  Md. (WUSA) -  Their purrfect dream is of a forever home, but until that happens, the cats and kittens of the St. Mary's Animal Welfare League (SMAWL) will be spending time as royally welcome guests at the League's new 'Cat Castle.'

Located in the Callaway Village shopping Center (off Md. Rte. 5 at 20845, 2B Callaway Village Drive), it will be open to the public starting Jan. 12, on weekends from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m., and during the week by appointment. And this is a great chance to meet and greet your next potential feline friend, whether a deserving senior age sweetie or a new bundle of fluff.

Stop in to say hi to the dedicated volunteers who keep these pets well-cared for, or to offer your own volunteer help. You can spend time with the cats and fill out an application to bring home the feline of your dreams.

While the castle is perhaps not quite as grand as the stately home on "Downton Abbey," for the felines within, it's a wonderful palace, and a destination they'd love you to visit. For more information about the cats, and all the other adoptable pets waiting for you at the SMAWL, call 301-373-5659 and leave a message, or click here to visit the website,  www.smawl.org.
