Zonta Club of Charles County Young Women in Public Affairs Award Applications Available | People

Applications for the 2010 Young Women in Public Affairs Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Charles County by contacting Ann Rees at (301) 934-1562 or at ann.rees@verizon.net. 

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a young woman’s (age 16-19) commitment to volunteering, experience in local or student government, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, knowledge of Zonta international and its programs and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due to: PO Box 691, White Plain, MD  20695 by March 15th.  Applicants must be pre-university or pre-college students (age 16-19).

The Zonta Club of Charles County was chartered by Zonta International in 1981.  Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.   Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.  The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is one of many programs for women and girls sponsored by the club and Zonta International.
