Charles County Public Schools to Host Annual College Fair

The Charles County Public School system will hold its 13th annual College Fair on Wednesday, September 22.

The event, which will take place at North Point High School, will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and then again from 6 p.m.-8 p.m..

Over 125 schools will be recruiting at the College Fair.

The 6 p.m.-8 p.m. session of the Fair will be open to the public.  There will also be financial aid workshops, at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m..

Think You’ve Got the Best Chili in Charles County?

Then come put your chili to the test!  Enter the 2010 La Plata Chili Cook-Off on September 11 from noon to 4pm.

Chef Judges from some of Charles County’s best local restaurants will be in attendance.

There are three categories:  Best Vegetarian Chili, Best All-Meat Chili, and Best Meat and Bean Chili.  There will also be a People’s Choice Award where the festival go-ers can vote for their favorite chili.

Walk to Put an End to Breast Cancer

Charles County will be hosting the 5th Annual Indian Head Breast Cancer Awareness Fitness Walk.

This day event beginning on October 16 from 9am to noon, is open to the entire community; with a free lunch provided by the Indian Head Community Activities Committee.

The cost is $20 per person and all proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Prince George's County Track Club Wins Big at AAU Jr. Olympics

Track Express Track Club (TETC), Prince George County's finest track club has been competing in the AAU Jr. Olympics track meets for over 15 years, breaking records and winning a number of gold medals year after year.

This year, it is no different in Norfolk, VA, with member, Rashad Manning breaking the record in the Javelin Throw for the youth boys. He also won the gold in the Discus and silver in the Shot put.
